ABOUT US

Department of Mathematics aims to equip people who are oriented towards recent areas of Mathematics. We pride ourselves and providing quality education, relaxed and blossoming environment.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of the Department is the development of the student’s personality, knowledge, skills, body language, abilities and values by promoting study  in Mathematics.

           The Department of Mathematics is one of the largest units of Mother Teresa Women’s University College. Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2002-2003. Its aims to train people who are oriented towards research and teaching in advanced areas of Mathematics. 

 

CURRICULUM

           A candidate of B.Sc Programme should be 18 hard core course and 6 soft course compulsory NSS, EDC for 2nd year students YRC, RRC and skill based elective, Non-other major elective.

          Participating inter college seminars in various mathematical topics. Providing guidance to prepare competitive and higher education entrance examination.Research guidance in Mathematics.Motivation students through accolades.Career Guidance. Final year students has attending thecampus interview and getting jobs at various places. Students are motivated to do creative activities in their Mathematics Subjects. Students are counseled individually by the ward system. Library Facilities with sufficient books with various authors. To undertake significant research projects individually. Final year students have attending campus Interview and getting jobs at various places. Library facilities with sufficient books with various National and International Authors.

 

SERVICE ACTIVITY

           Health Services, Food Services and co-curricular activities and acts in consultation with the principal.

 

EXTRA SERVICE ACTIVITIES

           Organize Study Programmes, retreats, Workshop, International and National Conferences for Faculty  and Students and Co-ordinates social service Programmes and works in consultation with the Principal.

 

MATHEMATICS CARNIVAL

          All the Students of the U.G Classes are the members of the Mathematics Club. Every Year there is a Club election and the Office bearers are elected. The President and Vice President are elected from the III & II Years respectively. The Secretary & Treasure are elected from the I Year. 

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

 

            The purpose of the Alumni Association is

  • To establish a link between the Alumni and the college and thereby build and maintain a link between successive generation of Alumni.

  • To keep alive the ideas and serve the growing interest of college.

  • All those who have been the students of the college for atleast one year and members of the faculty who have served the college for at least one semester are eligible for membership.

ELIGIBILITY

 

The B.Sc. Mathematics course is open to students who have passed the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, having taken Mathematics as compulsory.

 

FUTURE PLANS

 

  • To conduct National and International conferences / workshops in current research areas and topics of emerging trends.

  • To start short time certificate / diploma courses apart from the regular course offered

  • Start coaching classes for NET/CSIR/SLET/Bank and other competitive examinations.

  • On the whole to train young minds of women in fundamental and frontier areas of Mathematics.
