LIBRARY

 

        Library is a Treasure House of Knowledge. The College Library is well equipped with nearly 50,000 books and students have easy access to them. Every year hundreds of books by recent authors in each discipline are added to the list. Besides News papers both in English and Vernacular, scores of Weekly, Fortnightly and Monthly magazines are available. 17 Journals also find a place in the Library. Conducive ambience prevails in the library which facilitates the students to enrich and update their knowledge.

 

Mother Teresa Women’s University Library was started in 1984. The university library is virtually a “Mecca” for researchers in Women’s Studies. Its unique and rare collection of books. Reports, and journals on women, makes the library for excellence and competence in Women’s Studies. The university Library maintains a comprehensive collection of volumes numbering 60,000 and 4500 volumes of complementary books from various sources. The Thrust area of library is Women’s Studies pertaining to various discipline.
Membership is open to students, scholars, university faculties and registered full time scholars. The library is being equipped with INFLIBNET and INTERNET for wide reference and information. Documentation work has been carried out on women related issues.


Library has started the automation work under INFLIBNET programme. The Library has developed the following electronic sources namely 1.UGC INFONET.2. SHODH GANGA3. A-VIEW and 4. Institutional repositories. Theses and dissertations of the university have been computerized. The library has signed MOU with INFLIBNET for Library automation. The users are able to utilize the services offered at INFLIBNET.

 

Library Working Hours : 9.45am to 6.00pm
*Week days the reference section will be kept opened from 9.45 a.m to 6 p.m.
** Saturdays,Library will be kept opened from 10 a.m to 4.00 p.m
   (Library remains closed on important National Holidays as declared by the University)

 

RENEWAL 

           Book(s) may be renewed for a further period of 30 days provided the book(s) is/are not under reservation.  Renewal can be executed by production of the book(s) on the issue counter for the locally placed users.  Distantly placed users may renew the book(s) by telephone or reply post-card by mentioning the correct information about the book(s).
            Not more than two consecutive renewals are allowed for the same book(s) without its production on the issue counter for inspection.


OVERDUE CHARGE 
If a book is not returned when due, an overdue charge will be collected  Rs.0.50 paise per day / volume


GENERAL RULES:

  • Visitor/Members are instructed strictly not to keep valuable things such as Laptops/Mobile phones/important documents including cash/purse at the property counter. In no case, the Library can be held responsible for any loss of articles kept inside the bags.

  • Underlining, scribing and tearing of pages or any other type of damaging of Books/ Periodicals are strictly prohibited. 

  • Photocopying services are available within the library premises on payment of Rs.0.50 paise, per page and the terms of payment is cash.

  • Readers are requested not to place the Books/Periodicals on the shelf after reference. They can leave them on the table.

  • Using of mobile phone inside the Library is strictly prohibited. 

  •  Personal books are not allowed inside the Library, whatever may be the purpose, The University Librarian has all rights to recall the issued books back at any time if required. 

  • Edibles are not allowed inside the library and it is highly recommended that cleanliness should be maintained inside the Library.

  • Strict silence, decorum should be maintained inside the library. The University Librarian and/or the Library Committee, depending upon the extent and nature of a problem, shall consider and decide on such matters that may not find covered under the specifications in the present Library Rules.

SERVICES 
The library caters mainly to the needs of P.G. Students, M.Phil., Ph.D., Scholars, Faculties and Staff of the University. The library provides long range and short-range references to the users such as Current Awareness Service, Selective Dissemination of Information Service, Subject bibliography etc. Library also extends its facilities to the students and faculties of affiliated colleges and as well as to the students of other universities.  Separate internet connectivity is available to access.


Library operations are mostly computerized especially books circulation and OPAC. We have bar-coded our document collections. Provisions are being made to provide internet access to our library users so as to enable them to access the various learning resources available in the academic websites.
